Axscend has become an essential management tool. It gives control over our trailer fleet and the information we need to optimise its usage. The system has shown itself to be a reliable and effective tool. We have seen and are constantly seeing significant improvement in the utilisation of our trailer fleet, enabling us to make considerable savings in both time and money. Since installing Axscend we have reduced our trailer fleet by at least 8%.

The challenge

TDG were looking for a trailer management solution that would provide the GPS position of their trailers and give them the data needed to run a more efficient operation.

Implementation and initial successes

After a successful pilot project TDG installed Axscend across the majority its fleet. This installation helped TDG to maximise the fleet’s performance reporting at least an 8% reduction in the fleet’s size. Pleased with these results TDG continued the roll- out to the remaining sites, Dartford or Manchester.

Day-to-day wins

Alongside the continuous utilisation gains TDG have also enjoyed using the other trailer management tools available such as the VOR scheduler for online trailer maintenance and fleet summary reports. With up-to-date information online the scheduling changes made have a considerable positive contribution to TDG efficiency targets.

With the management of its trailer fleet ‘in-hand and under control’ TDG can be fully focus on ensuring customer satisfaction and business growth.

We have found the system intuitive, flexible and easy to use. Having our maintenance information available online means that everyone has visibility of the key data not just the fleet admin. A wide variety of people have a part to play in our maintenance programme, data that is easy to access means the relevant parties can take ownership and we can successfully monitor performance.

Experts in both supply chain management and logistics, TDG has 133 sites in the UK, Ireland, Spain, Holland, Germany and Belgium and has the UK’s largest temperature controlled service network It employees around 7,200 across Europe and has 1,600 vehicles that cover over 150 million miles per year.
