David Fox Transport (DFT) highest priority was ensuring the cost effectiveness of the business. To came to the businesses attention that the aerodynamic spoilers used often saved money on the outbound journey but ran up a fuel bill on the return leg. Driver could not safety adjust the spoiler height on their own but a manual adjustments required two men and a safety platform.

DFT contacted Chris Tanner, design engineer of Commercial Vehicle Technology (CVT) inviting him to design something that could alter the spoiler height automatically.

Tanner was successful designing a unit that could be retro fitted and managed from a push button situated in the cab. Trials took place. Two trailers were sent to Dartford, one with and one without the kit on board. The result was an improvement of 12.18%. This equated to a yearly saving of 800 gallons or £3,000 over 65,000 miles.

DFT is satisfied that the CVT kit will help them profit with every run.
