DHL Supply Chain to save 10% fuel
Don-Bur has launched a lower-height version of their Teardrop trailer. The Euro-spec Teardrop trailer will reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions compared with conventional trailers, and comply with continental height restrictions.
DHL Supply Chain is starting to use the new trailers between Netherlands and Germany and expect the trailer to reduce fuel consumption by 10% compared to the current trailers, resulting in a 25 tonne reduction of CO2 emissions on the route, annually.
Capacity is not compromised in the new Euro-spec trailer, a key concern for DHL Supply Chain. Don-Bur says that the trailer has 96.28m3 container capacity just 53cm3 less than the standard version.
The Stoke-based manufacturer expects interest from UK operators, particularly those running continental operations, as well as export markets where compliance with the height restrictions is a key concern.
Cost savings and regulatory compliance are a key concern within the haulage industry. As well as taking advantage of innovations such as the lower-height Teardrop trailer, operators can further optimise trailer utilisation with a trailer management system, such as Axscend GPS trailer tracking. Axscend customers typically report a utilisation increase of 15% and a fleet size reduction of up to 8% following installation of the trailer tracking device.
