HSE: 80% Loads Insufficiently Restrained
Spot-checks from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) last year on suspected overloaded HGVs were 'disappointing'. The HSE in partnership with VOSA is repeating the checks in the North West, after similar checks in Humberside, Wrexham and Birmingham in April last year found loads to be insufficiently restrained in over 80% of checked trucks.
The HSE said "We are hoping that we find fewer poorly restrained loads this time".
Specialist trailer management solutions, such as Axscend trailer tracking, gives operators clearer information about their trailer utilisation, including knowing exactly when MOT's and services are due for careful planning of off-road time and to ensure every trailer has up-to-date paperwork.
