Walking Floor Trailers reduce fuel usage, increase capacity
Legras Industries say that walking floor trailers should be considered for their help with energy saving, traffic optimisation and safety.
Smooth Aluminium sides reduce fuel consumption and lower tare weight by up to 3t compared to steel sided tipper trailers or ejection trailers. They also offer up to 25% increased volume compared to the tipper trailers and ejection trailers, to carry more per trip. As a result fuel quantity can be reduced per KG/M3 carried.
The versatility of the walking floor to carry a wide range of loads including pallets, bales and reels. Bulk loads such as paper, wood, cereal, waste, gravel etc. can be carried, and even 'clean' energy such as biofuel and biomass can be transported in bulk format. Finding return loads becomes easier, offering operators more opportunity to reduce empty trailer journeys, and increase the utilisation of the fleet.
A number of manufacturers offer walking floor trailers including Legras, Baxters Haulage, JBC Trailers and Keith Mfg.
Operators looking to make efficiencies from their trailer fleet can also take advantage of trailer management such as GPS trailer tracking from Axscend. With up-to-date information on your trailer fleet, knowing where are and what they are doing, trailers can be utilised more and stationary time can be reduced - driving down operational costs and improving profit margin.
