Companies sign up to Carbon Reduction Scheme
Since Pulling Power first reported on the FTA Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme 22 companies representing 37,000 vehicles have signed up and a further 50 companies have expressed interest.
This ground-breaking scheme will calculate the industries carbon footprint and set reduction targets. Members of the scheme will provide fuel usage data to build a picture of the industries emissions and this data will be converted into a carbon footprint. This will be used when looking at Government targets to reduce CO2 emissions to understand the scale of the challenge.
The FTA say "It is a collective approach. We are looking at setting a voluntary target for the industry."
When looking to meet the CO2 reduction targets freight and logistics operators can use trailer management solutions, such as Axscend Trailer Management to make efficiency savings. Harnessing GPS tracking and trailer management software, Axscend Trailer Management ensures trailer fleets are being fully and most efficiently utilised.
